We hope for the best, but let’s face it: anything can happen during our travels. Therefore, we have created a document for our family with the most important information they need to know in case of an emergency. This includes details about our travel and medical insurance because there are policies that apply to them in certain situations. While they have entitlements as first-degree relatives, it also empowers them to handle medical matters if we are unable to do so.

In addition to the travel and medical insurance information, we have included instructions in the document about what to do if we go missing, for example. We’ve created a detailed step-by-step outline, included important telephone numbers, and outlined procedures on how they can find our most recent location. Occasionally, we may not be reachable for several days, especially when hiking or being in remote areas. In such situations, we always inform someone about our plans during that period and check back in afterward.
