Certainly, having jumper cables is a standard and essential tool to carry in your car, not just for personal use but also to assist others on the road. This holds true not only during overlanding but at any time and for everyone. Initially, we invested in a portable jump starter, anticipating its increased utility, particularly during overlanding in remote areas. However, our experience with the portable jump starter was disappointing—it didn’t function properly and had a short lifespan.

Fortunately, our Defender is equipped with a second (household) battery, providing an additional option for starting the engine when necessary. This redundancy adds an extra layer of reliability to our vehicle’s power source, ensuring that we are well-prepared for any unexpected situations during our travels.
