Laptop & Tablet

In terms of electronic devices, we have adopted a minimalist approach, carrying a 12-year-old MacBook and a 10-year-old tablet. While we aren’t remote workers, this choice not only aligns with our budget-conscious mindset but also reduces the concern of carrying expensive equipment and minimizing the risk of theft. The MacBook serves specific purposes, such as internet research for car maintenance, ordering tools and spare parts, and handling data from our dashcam and Raspberry Pi. Additionally, it doubles as our go-to entertainment hub for movie nights in the car.
The tablet, mainly utilized by Ellen, proves to be a handy and lightweighted solution for writing, especially when paired with a portable keypad. Its compact size makes it convenient to carry in a daypack and is easy to store. Since the tablet is only dedicated to writing, its functionality is basic and there is no need for a second laptop.
The decision to have individual devices enhances our flexibility. Whether spending an afternoon in a library or a coffee cafe working on personal projects, having separate devices proves invaluable. This setup ensures we can efficiently manage tasks, collaborate on projects, and enjoy some personal downtime, a luxury that might not be feasible with just one shared device.
